Originally from Puerto Rico, Nina has a passion for food studies and education. After cooking in the U.S. Coast Guard, she used her educational benefits to go back to school at New York University where she completed her undergrad in Nutrition and Food Studies with a minor in American Sign Language. While living Sitka, AK, she discovered how difficult it is to maintain a diverse diet as food options are limited and most restaurants are seasonal. Transitioning into the education field became ideal for her professional and family situation.
Here is her M.Ed. Online Innovation and Design work for University of Alaska Fairbanks. Currently, she is attending Seattle Pacific University for a PhD in Education.
